Pingomatic Bookmarklet - Ping Any Page Any Time

I haven't posted anything in a long time on the blog here as I have been working on some of my new projects, which has really eaten away at my free time here. However, today I cam up with something pretty cool that I wanted to share with you all. What we just put together was a very cool little tool that allows you to ping any page you are on straight to Ping-O-Matic without having to actually go to that site and enter any of the details, all you do is press a button on your browser and BOOM ... it's pinged.

For many marketers I am sure your eyeballs are popping out of your skulls thinking "Wow, that would be so useful" and there may be others going "Huh? What does that do for me". Well for the latter crowd let me explain why this is so powerful. When you are link building for your website or you have just created a new page and you want to get it indexed almost instantly by Google, MSN and Yahoo then pinging your page to the blog search engines is one of the fastest ways to get the job done.

Ping-o-matic is one of the online services that can literally blast the page you want pinged out to many services almost instantly. The problem was that before, you had to go to their website, fill in the title of the page and the url and press the submit button. While that is not a big deal, when you are dealing with dozens of pages or links, it can quickly become a pain in the backside!

So what we did is come up with a quick bookmarklet that you can add to your browser and just press "PING IT" to automatically ping the current page you are on without doing any data entry at all. I will show you how to add it to your browser shortly, but here is the code for those who want to "Geek Out" over it:

javascript:location.href='http://pingomatic.com/ping/?title='+encodeURIComponent(document.title)+'&blogurl='+encodeURIComponent(location.href)+'&chk_weblogscom=on&chk_blogs=on&chk_technorati=on&chk_feedburner=on&chk_syndic8=on&chk_newsgator=on&chk_feedster=on&chk_myyahoo=on&chk_pubsubcom=on&chk_blogdigger=on&chk_blogrolling=on&chk_blogstreet=on&chk_moreover=on&chk_weblogalot=on&chk_icerocket=on&chk_newsisfree=on&chk_topicexchange=on&chk_google=on&chk_tailrank=on&chk_bloglines=on&chk_postrank=on&chk_skygrid=on&chk_collecta=on&chk_audioweblogs=on&chk_rubhub=on&chk_geourl=on&chk_a2b=on&chk_blogshares=on'

As you can see the title and url are automatically detected from the current page so you don't have to enter anything as it's all done for you. Now to simplify adding this to your browser all you have to do is right click this PING IT link and bookmark it to your bookmark toolbar or just drag it to your bookmark toolbar in your browser.

bookmarklet

You end up with a little link on your browser just like this:  One you have that, just go to any page toy want to ping (for example any page on this site) and press that button! You will see how powerful this will be for you and how quickly you can get your pages indexed.

Hello Sean,

I am a newbie.

Could you please inform me if this works in Europe ? To be most accurate I live in Portugal.

Another question is related to Firefox. Actually I don't have Firefox installed on my PC. Is it compatible to IE??

You see, I just want to improve the traffic of my astrological website for now. ( www.astrologylanguage.com)

Any further information would be most appreciated.

I love to be part of the Warrior Forum! Thanks!!

Why doesn't this program allow more than one ping? We should ping each site that we put up using Paul & Angela's links, but I get a "Slow down cowboy..." error when I try to do more than one.

Is there a way of putting in a group of links to be pinged at one time?

Hi Sean,

Your "Ultimate Word Press Ping List" Post was closed to comments, so I thought this would be the next best place.
Here are a couple pings to add to your list:

http://www.blogshares.com/rpc.php
http://www.blogsnow.com/ping
http://www.blogstreet.com/xrbin/xmlrpc.cgi
http://pinger.blogflux.com/rpc
http://www.weblogalot.com/Ping/

Well done on your ping list.
This goes for your site as well.
You've done a great job with it, looks good, well organized

Enjoy

Cool, Sean, but doesn't WP ping automatically if you have it set up that way?

Hello Sean, can I suggest to add more ping sites please?

I have about 80 of them but could not fit into the body of this comment list.
Please also let me know if this is helpful.

Kind regards
Michael

I just updated this page with some of Pingomatic's latest sites. I cannot add more than pingomatic supports due to the fact that the pings are controlled by that sites. This is just a cool way to interact with their service quickly from what ever page you are on.

All the best

Sean
